CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS

All the students enrolled on the college should strictly follow the following guidelines for maintaininguniformity and harmony in all respects during their studentship:

  • Every student must be a bona-fide student of the Western College, Konthoujam.
  • Every student should wear the College uniform:
    (a) For Boys: White shirt, Grey Trousers, Black Belt with Black Shoes and White Socks.
    (b) For Girls: White Shirt, Grey Phanek with Black Shoes and White Socks.
  • Wearing a proper college uniform and possessing an identity card issued by the college, a self-Aadhaar card, is a must while attending the college. The identity card should be hung visibly around the neck.
  • Students must follow the academic calendar throughout the academic session.
  • Students must attend the college classes and attain at least 75% of the total working days; otherwise, they will be debarred from appearing in the examinations and availing of Scholarships.
  • Only permissible items like prescribed textbooks, pens, exercise books, etc., can be brought to the campus and classrooms.
  • Students should maintain regularity and punctuality in attending classes in full and leave the college after class.
  • Treat all college community members with respect, dignity, and fairness.
  • Uphold academic integrity by avoiding plagiarism, cheating, and dishonest behaviour.
  • Attend classes regularly and arrive on time. Actively participate in discussions and activities, contributing positively to the learning environment.
  • Maintain decorum and behave in a manner that reflects positively on the college. Avoid harassment, discrimination, or bullying, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Use technology and resources available responsibly and ethically. Adhere to guidelines regarding the use of personal devices in classrooms.
  • Abide by laws and college policies regarding the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Promote a healthy lifestyle and discourage substance abuse.
  • Respect college property and facilities; avoid vandalism or misuse. Participate in maintaining cleanliness and sustainability on campus.
  • Respectfully and seek conflict resolution through appropriate channels utilising mediation or
    counselling services when necessary. 
  • Engage in community service and activities that promote social responsibility. Respect the diverse cultures, beliefs, and opinions of others.
  • Understand that violations of this code may result in disciplinary action, which could include warnings, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the offence.
  • Adhere to all college policies and regulations and stay informed about any updates or changes to the code of conduct.

By adhering to this code of conduct, students contribute to a positive academic atmosphere that supports learning, growth, and mutual respect. Every student is responsible for upholding these standards and fostering a thriving college community.
